Where is Perlite from?
Perlite starts it's journey as siliceous volcanic ore. Why is this volcanic rock special? It expands when heated up to twenty times it's original size. The moisture in the ore makes the rock expand, like popcorn when it pops.
How do rocks pop?
The volcanic ore is rapidly heated up in a specially calibrated furnace with temperatures from 1600 to 1700 degrees fahrenheit causing the popping. The volcanic ore pops and is filled with countless tiny glass bubbles.
What is Aggregate?
Perlite aggregate is the final product. Perlite is a generic term and not a trade name. It can range in color from white to light gray. Aggregate is exceptionally lightweight and strong. Perlite has countless uses and applications.
